Organ, tissue and eye donation and transplantation give life to those in need and inspire hope in those families whose loved ones have given the gift of life upon death. Donation can also be part of the spiritual journey for many of us. Whether we have been personally touched by waiting for or receiving a life-saving organ transplant, donating the organs and tissues of a loved one or helping a friend through this difficult time, many of us have turned to our faiths for guidance and support.

Midwest Transplant Network realizes medical examiners, coroners, pathologists, and forensic professionals play critical roles in the organ and tissue donation process. MTN collaborates with medical examiners and coroners in the referral and evaluation of potential organ and tissue donors to broaden the donation options for donor families, while preserving evidence for death investigations to determine the cause and manner of death.

Midwest Transplant Network is committed to fostering good relationships with the funeral industry in order to provide care for families who have made the decision to donate their loved one’s organs and/or tissue. MTN has a Funeral Home Liaison to serve as a dedicated resource to funeral homes, coroners and Medical Examiners. MTN’s Funeral Home Liaison is also a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer and is prepared to discuss the embalming process or related concerns.
