Laboratory

Midwest Transplant Network operates an independent regional laboratory specializing in laboratory procedures to support organ retrieval and transplantation. The lab uses luminex single antigen bead technology to identify unacceptable HLA antigens and donor specific antibodies and provides high quality and efficient services to the medical and transplant community with expertise in histocompatibility (serology and molecular methodologies), flow cytometry and molecular diagnostics.

Hospital Services

Midwest Transplant Network has a rich history of partnering with area hospitals to bring the gift of life to those in need. This has been a remarkable story of challenge and progress, of responding to hospital, donor and recipient needs and breaking new ground in the understanding and application of transplantation science, medicine, knowledge and technology.

Cornea Donation

Corneas, the clear outermost lens of the eye, are transplanted to restore sight. People suffering from blindness caused by a wide of array of diseases can benefit by corneal transplant.

Tissue Donation

Donated tissues offer hope for an improved quality of life for recipients. Midwest Transplant Network has a trained team to facilitate tissue recovery for life-enhancing transplants. Tissues are recovered at the hospital or at MTN’s in-house Tissue Recovery Suite to surgically recover tissues in an expeditious manner. This State-of-the-Art Suite maximizes the benefits of the donor’s gift through a number of improved processes and greater efficiency, honoring our donor’s wishes.

Organ Donation

Brain injuries are devastating events for patients and their families. The sudden and unexpected death of a loved one is difficult to understand. Individuals who suffer irreversible brain damage may become candidates for organ donation upon their death. Organ donation is sometimes the only positive outcome for family member when they know their loved one is saving the lives of others. The process of donation involves very specific testing to determine brain death.
